A Few Things

Just thought I would update a few things ~

Theresa & Rick ~ Theresa came through surgery and is awaiting results of the tests performed. She is home and recuperating. Thank you for your prayers for them both.

New job ~ started my new job on Wednesday. It is going well and I like being back in the office setting. Lots of new things to learn but am catching on quickly. Have had a couple of good talks with Rob and think working with him will be great. My first big task was learning how to input the time into the computer. The job itself is fairly easy just have to be really careful not to mess up as it has to do with people's pay.

Ron ~ is also learning a couple of new things. One of them being how to set up, troubleshoot and close out the ATM every day. This is something Rick was going to teach him and now Rob is doing that.

Our schedule ~ is somewhat back to our regular hours. We opened at 3:00 yesterday and open today at 4:00 so we didn't have to report till 1:30 on Thursday and 2:30 today. It has been nice to sleep in till 10:30 the last two days.

Special thanks to Kristy and Norm for picking up my prescriptions and bringing them to us here in Marysville on Saturday. It will be good to see them and they saved us from trying to figure out how to get my medications refilled. We so appreciate you both.

Also want to send out BIG thanks to Dee for being such a great mail lady for us during this season of travel and work. It is such a relief to not have to worry about the mail piling up and getting those wonderful packages. Thanks for the great job you are doing.

We received a special blessing the other day when a friend of ours gave us a 150' power cord. It has eliminated the problems of blowing the breakers every so often.

Today Ron is taking the time to clean our our large storage compartment to make room for the new power cord. It calls for moving the bathroom storage tote to under our table and reorganizing a few other things. Ron had initially thought he would put the new cord in the carrier on top of the motor home but after a lengthy discussion it was decided it was too heavy to be lifting that up and down at each stop so is necessitating the cleaning out of the large storage compartment. I just opened the bathroom tote and found 3 bottles of wine. Wondered where they had disappeared to. One is now nestled in the fridge chilling to be ready for tonight after work :)

The weather here in Marysville is beautiful! Woke up to sunny skies! It seems like it has been so long since we have seen that yellow round thing in the sky. It is so nice to be out of the mud and muck of the Rose Festival. Hope that means the nasty weather is behind us now for the rest of the season. One can hope can't they?

Would appreciate your continued prayers for Rick & Theresa as well as our whole unit with the change in supervisors and expectations. As typical in a place where lots of people work the rumor mill is flowing well. Ron and I have learned to remember the source and to check out things that just don't sound right.

One thing Ron and I do each time we do a jump (move from one location to another) is to ask ourselves if we had to make the decision to do this job (travel and work with the carnival) for a second season would we. The answer has always been a resounding yes! We are so enjoying our time here, the people we meet, the jobs we do and the areas we have seen. Now relax, this does not mean that we ARE going to do this again next year. It does mean that we like what we are doing right now ~ all aspects of it.

Well I just noticed the time and I need to get to making our lunch and ready ourselves for another day of work. Know that we think of each of you often and we love to hear from you all. Enjoy the day the Lord has made and rejoice in it.

It seems there is always something to rearrange in a motorhome. And there is always a way to fit what needs to be fit in

Glad your friend gave you the cord. It will be nice to have along.

Good to hear you are enjoying the job. You both seem like people who would stick it out even if you didn't because it was a commitment. That is honorable.

Praise God the surgery went well!!
I'm glad you like your new job..it can be difficult if things aren't happy in a office situation.

Have a great weekend!

I'm glad things are going well with the jobs, Ali. You guys are learning a lot of new skills that you will be taking away with you when you do decide to leave the carnival jobs.

Good luck and enjoy the weekend!

It's a blessing when you can live in the moment and appreciate your current circumstances, no matter what they are. You have a great attitude, Ali, and it speaks well of your character. By next spring, something entirely different may or may not come along. Your prayerful decision about the carnival job has paid off!

Here's to warm, sunny weather!

Sounds like a lot of people would be missing you all.

Sure that you will do great doing payroll. As a former Human Resource Professional, people are REALLY touchy when it comes to their paychecks being right. LOL

Hi Alice, (From Roxine)
Just a note to check in with you. We've been super busy with going to basketball. Ethan had camp last week Monday- Wednesday at Vallivue. So fun. Then Noah had the Varsity tournament at the Idaho Shootout, also at Vallivue on Thursday to Saturday. We helped with the concession table and putting away things, including the big score tables and chairs at the end. Some good talks with Coach Chatterton and hearing some negative stuff about Hoop Dreams and how they are having some problems. It is interesting seeing who Noah knows and how many of those going to be Freshmen are making their Varsity teams. Noah knows a lot of the kids and there is so much going on with people moving so their kids can play for the schools that will have them play all 4 years, or so they hope. Right now we don't have a house in Vallivue school district and living in Emmett is too far to commute, so unless the Lords provides the housing, we don't know how we will get Noah on the team, but he is invited to go to BYU this coming weekend and play with the Varsity again. The guys are all such good role models for him and his playing abilities are such that they appreciate him on the team. We really appreciate Coach Chatterton and his commitment to the team and the boys, individually. Also, Coach McNabb.

(continued from Roxine) It is disturbing to hear things about the coaches we have supported over the years and how they have changed and are all about the money. Money does that to people so much. Not having it, I mean, makes it hard to keep the focus on what God wants us to. WE know how that is. Trying to be as dilligent as possible in our business right now. I'm always out potting up plants and filling orders. We have things listed online at Idaho's BOunty, a virtual farmer's market! That and the 3 farmers markets in Boise, Hailey and Ketchum (Kurtis goes to that tomorrow) is what we are doing. The Cherry Festival was this past weekend and now we have lived here for 17 years. It was Cherry Festival the year that we came into town. We always remember that. We used to have time for doing things like that but this year all we did was see them setting up and then again yesterday, taking it down. I thought of you and Ron as I saw the rides being folded back up and watching the big trucks and motor homes packing up to go to their next place.

(conclusion from Roxine) It is a lot the same as us with the markets. It feels good to be home no matter where home is. It sounds like you've adjusted so well, Alice. I know that is the Lord being with you and helping you. I have been needing Him a lot lately just dealing with so much pressure to get things done. This weekend we're going to Tim's graduation in Los Altos. He is getting his Associates degree and wants to transfer someplace, not sure where yet. Jon doesn't know if he will get an opportunity to go to college now or not. He is willing to work to help us keep the farm. It is so hard seeing the kids have to work so much too, as so many of their friends have it a lot easier. I just hope that sometime the Lord will bless these kids for their help to us and having to miss out so often on things that they would enjoy. God knows. Kurtis spent Father's Day weeding the property so as to catch up from being gone to Noah's games. I feel that we are always behind like that. At least tonight he went to bed earlier as he has to get up early and drive to Ketchum. We don't want to be grumblers or complainers. We just praise God for the good work, the weather now has been so pleasant and that helps so much. The harvest is looking to be plentiful and the markets are thriving. The Boise Market made the change to accepting foodstamps via small tokens that the buyers can exchange their foodstamps for and the vendors can trade in for cash. I still have mixed feelings about the whole foodstamp program. IT helped us a lot this winter get through and for that I know to be thankful. Also, I pray that all who get them know that it is a blessing to be able to give so others have enough to eat also. Continually praying for you both and with you. God Bless you! We love you. Thanks for writing your page & keeping up with telling your story! It is really fun to read about your adventures. Roxine
